The principle of Indie marketing is to promote/sponsor your own independent project, whether it was a game, a film, or even a website you have made, or any project for that fact. 

There are a big number of websites on the Internet that can market your project and help you develop marketing of your project further, such as IndieMarketing.  

This website will help your project (whatever it may be) in order for it to get of the ground and to have a good jump-start, to be successful and known. 

No project ever got marketed with out some Benjamin’s (money), that’s why websites like indiegogo, gofundme, fundanything, exists to help fund your project. 

A lot of us have different definitions of marketing; some could go with the old school marketing, and some of us could go with the new school marketing. 

Old school marketing consists of, word of mouth, radio, personal connections, face time (not the apple app) and emails. 

As much as these methods work in today’s world, they are considered primitive in the age of the Internet and information, but they do work because they consist of personal involvement, reaching out to the masses, and face-to-face connection rather than screen-to-screen connection. 

New school marketing consist of, social media (any platform could be helpful in marketing), electronic word of mouth, attending events, Also as I mentioned before, marketing websites, and crowdfunding websites. 

These new school techniques will help get the project of the ground and to a good start, because in social media nowadays we can market almost any thing, however electronic word of mouth will be, you or any other social media user, telling their friends by commenting or a message throw Facebook for example. 

When attending events you can advertise for your project to many amounts of people from different sectors.

4 tips for indie marketing your project:

1.   Hire a graphic designer
When your doing your project it will contain design in it no matter how simple or complicate the project is, this will attract potential customers or users to it, and it will make it look good.

2.   Open a social media page for the project.
Opening a social media account for the project that you are doing (Facebook, YouTube, instagram etc.…) will help you gain more exposure and audience wanting to know more about it, and maybe someone would to invest in it.

3.   Stay persistent and consistent.
It can be really easy to get caught up with other ideas and get distracted by the flash (life), when you have an idea for a project stick with it, and develop it and work on it and stay on it, until it is a successes and it retched your goal (whatever it may be)

4.   Shoot a video for it and/or take pictures.
People always like to see visuals. When your announcing the project show videos and pictures of it, with a small description under it, people are lazy and wont read.
